Alka Das Pranti
Alka Das Pranti is a renowned Indian Classical Dancer, choreographer and a model of the new age
Bangladesh. She is trained in Odishi under the guidance of Guru Sharmila Biswas at Odissi Vision and
Movement, India where she worked as a repertory dancer later. Though, she studied Chemical
Engineering from Jadavpur University under ICCR scholarship, she completely devoted herself to dance
and modelling. Presently, she is working for Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy as a Senior Dance Artist and
teaching Odishi at Kolpotoru in an Indo-Bangladesh project, and also working with Shadhona.
Being one of the top finalists at the Miss Universe Bangladesh, Alka represented Bangladesh at the
International Human Rights Conference 2019 as a guest speaker. Along with these, her first solo
production has been premiered at the AGM of World Dance Alliance. She also worked with Akram Khan
Company in their production “Father : Vision of the floating universe” for the 100th birth anniversary of
the father of nation, very recently. She worked actively at International festivals like Dance Bridges
Festival (India) for three years as Arts Manager and Ocean Dance Festival (Bangladesh) as an Organizer.
During her stay in India, she collaborated with some Spanish dancer where they brought dance and
science together. For her contributions in dance, she was featured at the Times of India in 2018.
Alka has been performing and working with several renowned international festivals and in television
channels at both Bangladesh and India from a very young age. Alka is one of the most determined
youngsters of Bangladesh who took the courage to devote herself completely into dance and modelling,
despite of having a Chemical Engineering degree from one of the top ranking universities in Asia under
fully funded Govt. Scholarship.
